Mrs. Betty Souther Minter Hardy
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Betty Souther Minter Hardy, age 76, of 2508 W. Front St., passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Wesley Long Memorial Hospital after several months of failing health.
Born in Martinsville, Va., she was the daughter of the late James A. Souther and the late Dora Shelton Souther Stadler and was married to the late Bobby Joe“B.J.” Hardy, who died in 1983. Betty retired from Westinghouse Inc. after 25 years of service and was a former member of Starling Ave. Baptist Church in Martinsville, Va.
Mrs. Hardy is survived by her two sons, Jay R. Minter of Mebane and Brent J. Hardy and his wife, Krystal, of Burlington; five grandchildren, Justin Minter, Austin Minter, Anna Hardy, Chase Salisbury and Connor Salisbury; and a half brother, John Souther of Ridgeway, Va.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Dave Gilbert. The family will receive friends following the service at the gravesite.
Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Hardy family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, P. O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
