Fred Banner Graves

Mr. Fred Banner Graves, 88, of Burlington passed away at his residence on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 4:10 a.m.
Mr. Graves was born June 10, 1929 in Alamance County, NC. He was the husband of almost 70 years to Patricia Terrell Graves, who survives and the son of Ura Denton Graves and Flossie Shoffner Graves, both deceased.

Mr. Graves retired from Western Electric with more than 30 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed working with his son at Beaver Creek Cabinets. He enjoyed fishing, softball, golf and gardening. Fred was a lifelong and active member of Low’s Lutheran Church serving in the choir and in many other capacities since his early teenage years.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include three children, Fred Michael Graves and wife Nancy, Bonny Graves Whitsett and husband Dr. Danny Whitsett and Kim Graves York and husband Ernie; seven grandchildren, Max Graves, Mandy Graves, Sean Whitsett, Carrie W. Marklin, Ashleigh Y. Denny, Charlie York and Lindsay York; and three great-grandchildren, May, Chris and Allison.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
The funeral service will be conducted at Low’s Lutheran Church on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. by Rev. John Mark Beam, III. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
