Juanita Gilliam Loy dies at 101
 

 ELON — Juanita Gilliam Loy, 101, of Elon passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family at Alamance Health Care at 1:50 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015.
 
 A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late William Howard Loy and the daughter of the late Thomas Elbert Gilliam and the late Nettie Oliver Gilliam. Juanita was a former owner of Huey & Loy Grocery and Service Station. She was the oldest living member of Elon Community Church, where she was a Circle member for many years. She was also a member of the Tan and Toil Garden Club, the Wondering Twig Garden Club, the Alamance County Homemakers Club and the Friendship Club.
 
 Survivors include one daughter, Jean Loy Toms of the home; two grandchildren, Janet Toms Hundley and husband Steve and Matthew S. Toms and wife Joy; six great-grandchildren, Tiffany Lattero and husband Lui, Hannah Brooks, Emma Brooks, Adam Hundley, Jacob Toms and Jenna Toms; four greatgreat-grandchildren, Alexio Lattero, Ava Lattero, Biagio Lattero and Anna Lattero; one sister, Polly G. Melton; and many nieces and nephews.
 
 In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Loy Faulkner; three brothers, Thomas E. Gilliam, Jr., J. Oliver Gilliam, Sr. and John Hoyt Gilliam; and three sisters, Patricia G. Shackelford, Nancy G. Cobb and Cleo G. Harris.
 
 The family will receive friends at the Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.
 
 The funeral service will be conducted at Elon Community Church, United Church of Christ on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 2 p.m.by the Rev. Randy Orwig.
 
 The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Alamance Health Care Center for their loving care and support.
 
 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elon Community Church, c/o Music Fund, P.O. Box 625, Elon, NC 27244 or to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
