BURLINGTON — Lora Bernice Denson Simpson, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at ARMC.
She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of 61 years to Harold Dean Simpson, who survives.
Bernice was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. She was a longtime member of Shamrock Evangelical Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and also was a soloist for special numbers. Bernice also sang with the Barbershop Bells for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Dean Simpson, of the home; daughters, Cindy Rudd, Sherri Hall and husband Mark, both of Burlington; sons, Robert L. Simpson and Mark Simpson and wife Clarissa, both of Burlington; grandchildren, Crystal Pope and Heather Dunn and husband Brett; greatgrandson, Cody Pope; brother, Steven Denson of Stokesdale; and a sister, Frances Eanes of Glen Allen, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison Lee and Onnie Elizabeth Slaughter Denson; greatgrandson, Tyler Whitaker; sister, Marie Curry; and brothers, Elvin, Phillip, Wesley and Michael Denson; and son-in-law, Harold Lane Rudd.
A service to celebrate her life will be conducted Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Shamrock Evangelical Methodist Church by the Rev. Brian C. Wardlaw and the burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Lowe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Cindy Rudd, 2758 Woodberry Drive, Burlington.
