Mrs. Annie Lee Beckom Madren
   BURLINGTON — Mrs. Annie Lee Beckom Madren, 93, formerly of Basin Creek Road, died Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center after several months of failing health.

   A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late John W. Beckom and the late Ida Whitesell Beckom and was married for 63 years to Joseph Daniel “Joe” Madren, who died in 2004. She retired from Glen Raven Mills after 29 years of service and later worked in the cafeteria of the Alamance County School System. She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Christian Church.

   Mrs. Madren is survived by two sons, Daniel Madren and his wife, Loretta, and Steve Madren and his wife, Patsy, all of Burlington; five grandchildren, Greg Madren, Marsha Hatch and husband, Allen, Rodney Madren and wife, Eleni, LeeAnn Williams and husband, Eddie, and Joey Madren and wife, Elizabeth; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Willam Donald “Donnie” Madren; six sisters, Pearl Ingold, Florence Faucette, Bertha Garrison , Maggie Smith, Ethel Mansfield

   and Dorothy Smith; and five brothers, Tom Beckom, Ernest Beckom, Jack Beckom, Jim Beckom and Carlos “Bud” Beckom.

   The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Bethlehem Christian Church by the Rev. Dave Gilbert and the Rev. Matt Smith. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of Daniel Madren, 2312 Basin Creek Road, Burlington.

   The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Liberty Commons for the thoughtful and loving care given to Mrs. Madren over the last 5 1/2 years.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
