Joseph Daniel Madren 
    BURLINGTON — Joseph Daniel Madren , 86, of 2370 Basin Creek Road, died Thursday, October 7, 2004, at the Hospice Home following several months of failing health. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late William Taylor Madren  and the late Lena Waynick Madren , and was married to Mrs. Annie Lee Beckom Madren  for 62 years. He was retired from Western Electric after 26 years service and was a member of the Pioneers Club. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church, where he was involved in a gospel quartet and a Sunday school teacher. Mr. Madren  was a longtime farmer in the community and was an avid rabbit hunter.
    Mr. Madren  is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Daniel Madren  and his wife, Loretta, and Steve Madren  and his wife, Patsy, all of Burlington; five grandchildren, Greg Madren , Marsha (Allen) Hatch, Rodney Madren , LeeAnn (Eddie) Williams, and Joey (Elizabeth) Madren ; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Weldon T. Madren  of Concord. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Donald "Donnie" Madren ; three sisters, Mary M. Moser, Violet M. Smith, and Margie M. Synder; and four brothers, Herbert M. Madren , Ubert E. Madren , Garland F. Madren , and Ralph W. Madren .
    A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2004, at Bethlehem Christian Church by the Rev. Dave Gilbert. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, and other times at the home.
