Tony Russell Whitt Sr., a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, in Randolph County, North Carolina, at the age of 79. Born on June 14, 1946, in Alamance County, North Carolina, Tony lived a life characterized by hard work, devotion to family, and a love for cars and sports.
Tony spent 30 years as a mechanic and supervisor for the North Carolina Highway Patrol, where he was known for his skill and commitment before retiring. His passion for mechanics extended beyond his career, as he enjoyed working on drag racing cars in his spare time and anything with a motor, he also loved watching NHRA drag racing.
After meeting his beloved wife, Rosemarie Whitt, Tony developed a fondness for baseball, becoming an enthusiastic supporter of the Houston Astros. In addition to his love for sports, he took great pleasure in watching "Bar Rescue."
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, James Russell Whitt and Rosa Overman Whitt. He is survived by his devoted wife of 16 years, Rosemarie Whitt; his son, Tony Whitt Jr. (Russ); his daughter, Melody Clatterbuck (Dru); and his stepson, Michael Ching (Carmela). He leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Darion Clatterbuck, Melaya Clatterbuck, Maren Ching, Azariah Ching, and Dakota Clatterbuck. He is also survived by his sister, Rose Ann Hargrove (Harold); his brother, Ricky Whitt (Tina); and numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held on September 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow at Triad Cremation. Tony will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the joy he brought to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. 680, Tony Russell Whitt
