Berry Alfred Barber
     ELON COLLEGE — Berry Alfred Barber, 88, of Rt. 1, Elon College, died 6 p.m. Saturday at N. C. Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill, of injuries received when hit by a car at 11:30 a.m. Saturday on Hwy. 87 North.
     Born in Alamance County, he was the son of the late David Riley and Mary Elizabeth Albertine Michael Barber, and was the husband of the late Sallie Phibbs Barber. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Shallowford United Church of Christ, and a member of the Elon Junior Order.
     Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Shallowford United Church of Christ by the pastor, the Rev. Richard M. Petersen. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
     Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Barber Eriggs of Lake City, Fla., and Miss Ethel Mae Barber of the home; a son, Samuel K. Barber of Rt. 1, Elon College; a brother, William Cyrus Barber of Owanka, S.D.; a sister, Mrs. Odessa Barber Penley of Rt. 1, Elon College; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
     The body will remain at Lowe Funeral Home until placed in the church to lie in state for 30 minutes before the service. The family will be at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., and at other times at the home of Samuel K. Barber.
