GRAHAM — Mr. Ernest M. “Bill” James Jr., 83, of 715 Brookgreen Terrace, died at 1:13 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Jewel Nunnery James, and the son of the late Ernest Monroe James Sr. and Ola Fowler James. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and retired from Burlington Industries. He attended Swepsonville United Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, Mr. Frank E. James of Burlington, and Mr. Ronnie W. James and Mr. Gene B. James, both of Graham; and two grandchildren, Blair James of Burlington and Mrs. Jill Davis of Graham. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen B. James; and a great-grandson, Coy Blair James. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham by the Rev. David Jackson of Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park. The family will be at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening. The family would like to thank the Critical Care Unit of Alamance Regional Medical Center for their care, support and love given during Mr. James’ brief illness.
