Mr. Jordan Wilson Cable

ELON — Mr. Jordan Wilson Cable, 88, of 744 Shallow Ford Church Road, died at 9:48 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several months of failing health, one week critical.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband for 67 years of Mrs. Ethel Gerringer Cable, who survives, and the son of the late Claude Cable and Ollie B. Gerringer Cable.

He was a retired carpenter and farmer and was a member of Shallow Ford United Church of Christ. He was a charter member of the Shallow Ford Memorial Association and attended the 1st Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, where he was a member of the Duncan Bryan Sunday School class. He was formerly on the planning and zoning board for the town of Elon and on the board of directors for the Alamance County Farm Bureau. He served on the A.S.C. for Alamance County.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Kaye Cable Murray of Elon; a son-in-law, Mr. Joe Murray of Elon; a granddaughter, Miss Barbara Murray of Elon; and a grandson, Dr. Ron Murray and his wife, Dr. Elizabeth G. Murray of Greensboro. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. John Cable and Mr. Kyle Cable; and two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Longest and Mrs. Norma Hayes.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Tim Robinson.

Burial will be in Shallow Ford United Church of Christ cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
