Mrs. Ethel Irene Gerringer Cable
ELON — Mrs. Ethel Irene Gerringer Cable , 94, of 744 Shallowford Church Road, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at 7:05 p.m. after two weeks of critical health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Jordan Wilson Cable , and the daughter of the late Lyman David Gerringer and Fannie Ross Gerringer Crouse. She was a retired textile employee. She was a member of Shallow Ford United Church of Christ where she was a charter member of the Shallow Ford Memorial Association. She also attended the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Burlington.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Kaye Cable Murray and husband Joe Murray of Elon; a granddaughter, Ms. Barbara Murray of Elon; a grandson, Dr. Ron Murray and wife Dr. Elizabeth Murray of Elon; and two sisters, Mrs. Eva Wyrick and Mrs. Ruth Thompson, both of Burlington. She was preceded in death by four brothers; Boyd Gerringer , L.D. Gerringer , Marvin Gerringer , and Everette Gerringer .
A funeral service will be conducted, Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at 3 p.m. at the Rich and Thompson Chapel of Burlington by the Rev. Tim Robinson. Burial will follow at Shallow Ford United Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Other times, they will be at the residence of the daughter, Mrs. Kaye Murray, 680 Cable Road, Elon, N.C.
Memorials may be made to First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 2250 Saddle Club Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215, and Shallow Ford Memorial Association Cemetery Fund c/o Peggy Horne, 1879 Routh Road, Burlington, N.C. 27217.
