Mrs. Ilene Crouse Baker

BURLINGTON — Mrs. Ilene Crouse Baker, 92, of 331 N.C. 87 North, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after six weeks of failing health.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Clyde Benjamin Baker, who survives, and the daughter of the late Lester Mithrealities Crouse and Flora Lelia Gerringer Crouse.

She was retired from Burlington Mills and was employed with Dixie Bell. She was a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church where she was a member of the Macy May Bible class. She enjoyed Crocheting baby afghans and booties.

Survivors other than her husband of the home include a sister, Mrs. Alma Mae Crouse Wright of Burlington; and two brothers, Clair Crouse of Graham and Melvin Ray Crouse of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Uby and Roy Crouse.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Peoples Memorial Christian Church by the Rev. C. Max Allman, pastor, and the Rev. Jack Lemons, pastor of McCleansville Baptist Church. Mrs. Baker will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 5 to 7 this evening, and at other times at the home of Mike Greene, 220 Westview Drive, Burlington, N.C. 27217.3
