Mr. L.D. Gerringer Jr.
BURLINGTON — Mr. Lymon David “L.D.” Gerringer Jr., 71, of 2008 S. Mebane St.,
Colony Apartments, 745-A, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at his home after several years
of failing health, one day critical.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Dot Wyrick Gerringer
and Mrs. Mary Tilley Weiss Gerringer, who survives. He was the son of Mr. Lymon
David Gerringer Sr. and Mrs. Fannie Ross Gerringer, both deceased. He was a former
employee of Leath Hosiery Mills and was retired from Pickett Hosiery Mill. He was a
lifetime member of Shallow Ford United Church of Christ.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two stepdaughters, Mrs. Linda Jolly of
Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Ms. Tracie Weiss of Burlington; a stepson, Mr. George Weiss of
the home; two daughters, Mrs. Sharon G. Moore and Mrs. Robin M. Ward, both of Elon
College; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel G. Cable of Elon College, Mrs. Eva G. Wyrick and Mrs.
Ruth G. Thompson, both of Burlington; a brother, Mr. I. Boyd Gerringer of Burlington;
three stepgrandchildren; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Everette Gerringer and Mr. Marvin
Gerringer.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the
Rev. Leslie Jolley, pastor of Shallow Ford United Church of Christ. Burial will be in
Shallow Ford United Church of Christ cemetery.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the
home.
