Garland “Jake” Oakle Tickle
 
 
 ELON – Mr. Garland “Jake” Oakle Tickle, 94, of Elon, passed away at 8 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2016, at the Hospice Home in Burlington.
 
 A native of Altamahaw, NC, he was the husband of Mrs. Bernice Christman Tickle, who survives, and son of the late James Monroe Tickle and Rosa McIntyre Tickle.
 
 He retired from Lucent Technologies. Mr. Tickle was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and was retired from the US Navy.
 
 Surviving, other than his wife of the home, are two sons, Richard “Rick” Tickle, of the home and James “Jimmy” Tickle (Angela) of Burlington; a daughter, Karen Tickle Allen (Gary) of Burlington; a grandson, Brad Allen (Ashley) of Snow Camp; a granddaughter, Beth McCune (J.C.) of Hilton Head Island, SC; a greatgrandson, Jaden Christopher Allen; four greatgranddaughters, Trinity Faith Allen, Makaylee Grace Allen, Chloe Elizabeth McCune and Keely Ann McCune.
 
 Mr. Tickle was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Vernon Tickle and James Marvin Tickle; and three sisters, Bertha T. Murray, Rebecca “Polly” T. Fargis and Annie “Nookie” Gates.
 
 A private burial will be held at Alamance Memorial Park.
 
 The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral & Cremation Service in Burlington from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
 
 The family would especially like to thank Hospice & Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell for their help and care of Mr. Tickle.
