Obituary Online notes for “Dick” Richard Basil RAMEY
Richard Basil Ramey, 90, passed away on December 15, 2008. He was born on March 15, 1918, in Wyandotte County, KS, the only child of Lilburn Searcy and Edith Bettie (Gosney) Ramey.

Dick lived nearly his entire life in Platte County, and was a descendant of some of Platte's earliest families. Indeed, he owned land northeast of Linkville that had been patented by John Ramey in 1843. Dick married Sarah Elise Atkins on November 8, 1941, in Clay County. She preceded him in death on December 21, 2007. He served in the Naval Reserves during World War II, and later was in the Air Force reserves for several years. Dick was a plumber for the Atkins Plumbing Company from 1946 to 1961. Thereafter, he operated "R.B. Ramey Plumbing Company" before retiring in 1984. During their retirement years, Dick and Elise travelled and saw many foreign countries and most of the United States. He was a member of First Christian Church of North Kansas City.

Dick is survived by sons Roy, wife Nancy, Forest, VA; Steven, wife Marie, Kansas City; William, North Kansas City; and daughter Suzanne Holley, husband Chris, Centreville, VA; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Mercier and Michael Ramey; Anna, Benjamin and Sara Ramey; Kathryn, John and Rebecca Holley; and six great- grandchildren, Corbin, Asher and Rowan Mercier, and Hannah, Nathan, and Selah Ramey.

Our father was beloved by all his children, and will be greatly missed. Burial will be at Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home, with visitation at 10 a.m. Arr.: Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home (816) 734- 5500. "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies."
