With deep respect, we honor the life of Noel Arthur, known affectionately as "Doc", who was born on the 1st of Jan. 1924 in Harrisville, IN and passed away on the 14 Sept. 2023.
A courageous and dedicated man, Noel was a beacon of inspiration to his family, friends and community. He demonstrated his talent in various pursuits, most notably as a star basketball player during his High School Days at Spartanburg High School. His love for his family and country was deeply rooted and these values guided him throughout his life. Noel's journey was marked by a storied career in the United States Army, retired as a Sargent Major in 1966 after having honorably serving during WWII and Korean Wars.
He was a School Bus Driver with Randolph Southern School System for many years. Noel was a member of several local organizations, including the Lynn Volunteer Fire Department, Lynn Library Board and the Free and Accepted Mason.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richmond.
As Winston Churchill once said "Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others".
He leaves sons Bruce Arthur, Steve (Debbie) Arthur; 3 grandsons, 3 grand daughters; one great-grandson.
Preceded by his wife of 72 years, Joan Arthur; parents Lester and Lenna Arthur and 10 brothers and sisters.
