He is survived by his wife, Julia Thompson Vest; four sons, James J. Vest, Luther Powell Vest, Ross M. Vest, all of White Gate, John C. Vest, Jr., Pembroke; six daughters, Mrs. Walter Stafford, Mrs. Donald Stewart, Trigg, Mrs. John Melvin, Mechanicsburg, Mrs. Stuart Blackburn, Pulaski, Mrs. Howard Wheeling, Dublin, Mrs. W. A. Buchanan, Bluefield; a brother, Sam Vest, White Gate; three sisters, Mrs. J. L. Johnston, Trigg, Mrs. C. L. Peters, Louisa, Mrs. Sidney Underwood, Poplar Hill; 25 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday in Mt. Zion Methodist Church with burial in Stinson Cemetery, White Gate. The body will remain at the funeral home until 1:00 P.M. on Monday.
