VEST, James Jackson, (Jack), 91, of Dublin, died Monday, June 11, 2001 at New River Valley Medical Center.
He was born July 5, 1905 at White Gate, Va. the son of the late John Covington and Julia Thompson Vest.
He was also preceded in death by his wives, Willie Peery Vest and Mary Gillespie Hetherington Vest; a daughter, Barbara V. Johnson; a brother, Luther Powell Vest; a half sister, Lucille Buchanan.
He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, the White Gate Ruritans Club, was retired from Radford Army Ammunition Plant and was a life long farmer.
He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Dorothy Louise Vest, Marion; Judy and Otis Feaganes, Staunton; a step-son, John Hetherington and wife Donna, Lexington, Tenn; two step-daughters, Rev. Jo Ellen Hetherington, Roanoke; Vicki Hetherington, Salem; two brothers, John C. Vest Jr., Pembroke; Ross M. Vest, White Gate; five sisters, Wilma V. Blackburn, Cloverdale; Mildred V. Stafford, Sadie V. White and Mary V. Mustard, Pearisburg; Josephine V. Melvin, Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren and spouses, James (Jim) and Robin Feaganes; Michael and Lisa Feaganes; Terri and Steve Carter; Patrick Feaganes.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at A. Vest and Sons Funeral Home chapel, White Gate with the Rev. John Hamric and Rev. John Sullivan officiating. Burial in the Stinson Cemetery, White Gate. 470, James Jackson Vest-Obituary
