She was born April 8, 1912 at Poplar Hill, Va., the daughter of the late John Milton and Nellie Gay Combs Underwood.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Luther Powell Vest, one son, William Eugene Vest, two daughters, Shelby Jean Johnston and Nellie Kelley, one sister, Irene Stafford and one great-grandson, Anthony Mann.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Jarrell, Dublin; one son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Alice Vest, Dublin; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. 470, Lucille Gay “Topsy” Underwood Vest
