BURLINGTON — Mrs. Jolete Fuquay Harviel, 62, of 1925 West Lake Drive, died at her residence on March 3, 2011 at 3:10 a.m.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Saturday from 5 until 7 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Lee Pittard.
Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service of Burlington is in charge of arrangements.

Jolete Fuquay Harviel
BURLINGTON — On March 3, 2011, Jolete Fuquay Harviel passed away at her home in the presence of her family and at peace with her faith. She was born December 23, 1948 to Ladd Watus and Margaret Guthrie Fuquay, now deceased.
She leaves behind her husband of over 40 years, Ernest Jackson Harviel. They met in high school and were married while in college on Aug. 23, 1970. Jolete and Ernie both completed degrees at Appalachian State University. Jolete also received her Masters degree in Education from Appalachian. She began her teaching career at Grove Park Elementary while Ernie completed his law degree from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Jolete not only had a career as an educator, she was also a loving and devoted mother to her two daughters, Jennifer and Carrie. From 1977 to 1982 Jolete stepped away from the classroom to devote her time to raising her two girls. She returned to work in 1982 at Turrentine Middle School where she taught Language Arts and Social Studies for nearly 20 years before her retirement in 2000. After a brief retirement she returned to the classroom for two years at South Graham Elementary. Teaching for Jolete was not a job, it was her calling.
She is survived by her husband Ernest J. Harviel, her daughter Jennifer Jolete Harviel of the home, her daughter Carrie Harviel Rawl and her husband Les Rawl of Columbia,
S.C., and one grandson,
George Duncan Rawl who was born Jan. 6, 2011.
The funeral service will be conducted at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Lee Pittard and the Rev. Iris Burton. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alamance Regional Medical Center’s Charitable Foundation, P.O.
