GIBSONVILLE - Carl Douglas Whitesell, 56, of 614 Burke St. died Monday, Feb. 13, 1995 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late Joseph Samuel Whitesell and Nannie Mae Sheffield Whitesell. He was a retired employee of REA Express and Signal Deliveries. He was a member and deputy chief of the Gibsonville Fire Dept. He was a certified EMT, certified level III fire fighter, a member of the Guilford County Fire Assn. and Chiefs Counsel, a member of the N.C. Fire Assn., a member of the N.C. State Fire Chiefs Assn., and a member of the N.C. Society of Fire Service Instructors. He was a member of Tobasco Lodge 271 AF & AM, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite of Greensboro, a life member of the N.C. Jaycees, a member of the Gibsonville United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Men.
Survivors include his wife, Amy Barber Whitesell of the home; daughter, Carla Dawn Whitesell of the home.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Gibsonville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Bowen, the Rev. Stanley Gibson, the Rev. Chip Cagle officiating. Burial will be in the Gibsonville City cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. tonight at Bartlett Funeral Home.
