Amy Barber Whitesell

April 10, 2022

Amy Barber Whitesell, 81, a native of Gibsonville and lived most recently at Blakey Hall Retirement Community, died on Sunday, April 10, 2022. She was a graduate of Monticello High School, Browns Summit, and Elon College. She worked for over forty years in the medical field; serving as an assistant to Drs. Robert Watson, Phillip Mann, and Nancy Maloney.
 
Mrs. Whitesell was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church. She served as a lay leader, Sunday School teacher, administrative board member, and Women’s Society member. She enjoyed playing the piano, especially hymns. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, going out to eat, and relaxing while getting a manicure.
 
Mrs. Whitesell is survived by her daughter, Carla (James) Whitesell Dahl, Chapin, SC, and her special family, the Paul Atkins family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl D. Whitesell, and her parents, Virgil and Thelma Barber.
 
The family wishes to thank the staff of Blakey Hall Retirement Community for their care and support, as well as the many friends who have visited, called or sent cards over the years.
 
A visitation will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. at the Gibsonville United Methodist Church, 501 Church Street in Gibsonville. The funeral will follow at 2:30 p.m., Dr. Barry Lemons, officiating. Burial will be in the Gibsonville City Cemetery.
