Sarah Ann Smithey Perkins  dies at age 100

    BURLINGTON — Sarah Ann Smithey Perkins , 100, of 1351 Haw River-Hopedale Road, died on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Alamance Health Care.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2005, at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

    Mrs. Perkins  was born in Rockingham County to the late Frank and Addie Eugene Windsor Smithey . She was a housewife and farmer. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Perkins ; sons, Floyd A. Perkins  and Raymond S. Perkins ; five brothers; and one sister.

    She is survived by her sons, James M. Perkins  of Reidsville, Ralph L. Perkins  of Mebane, Roy C. Perkins  of Graham, and J.C. Perkins  of Burlington; daughters, Sadie B. Lynch and Rachel L. Lewis, both of Burlington, and Nancy L. O’Dell of Haw River; 33 grandchildren; 66 greatgrandchildren; 24 great-greatgrandchildren; daughters-inlaw, Barbara Perkins  and Allie H. Perkins , both of Burlington.

    The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times will be at the home of J.C. Perkins , 3410 Fleming Graham Road, Burlington.
