Obituary Online notes for Arthur Gurley HOFFMAN
Arthur Gurley Hoffman, 83, of Rt. 1, Burlington, died unexpectedly Sunday morning at 9 o'clock at his home following two years of declining health. A native of Alamance County, Mr. Hoffman was the son of the late Peter Preston and Ursula Ingle Hoffman. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Evelena Faucette Hoffman and was a retired farmer in the St. Mark's Church community. He had been a member of St. Mark's Reformed United Church of Christ for 50 years. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Hoffman Denny of the home and Mrs. Violet Hoffman Daniel of Winston-Salem; two sons, Howard W. Hoffman of Rt. 1, Burlington, and the Rev. Thomas E. Hoffman of Allentown, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Worth Bryan and Mrs. J. D. Moody Sr., both of Burlington, and Mrs. Florence Groome of Greensboro; and 12 grandchildren. Final rites will be held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at St. Mark's Reformed United Church of Christ. The Rev. Lawrence Leonard, pastor, will conduct the service.
