GIBSONVILLE — Carl Monroe Allen Jr., 60, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C.
He was born Sept. 25, 1954, to the late Carl Monroe Allen Sr. and Doris Huffman Allen. He was also predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Cyrus Fowler and Ellie Heritage Huffman.
Carl attended Lenoir Rhyne University, Elon University and graduated from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. with a Master’s degree in Allied Health Sciences and Physician’s Assistant. He served as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Guilford County and as a Physician’s Assistant at Kernodle Clinic, Burlington, N.C., Emergicare, Jamestown, N.C., Moses Cone Hospital and Women’s Hospital, Greensboro, N.C., Piedmont Prime Care, Danville, Va., Southern Virginia Orthopedics, South Boston, Va.
Carl served as a volunteer fireman and EMT with Gibsonville Fire Dept. and currently served as a fireman and board member for Fire District 28, Gibsonville, N.C. Carl was known as a Master Woodworker and #1 fan of the music group Chicago, having attended over 50 concerts.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Joyce Isley Allen; stepson, Jeffrey Stafford (Cariann);
granddaughter, MacKenzie Stafford; grandson,
Ethan Stafford; and stepgrandson, Nicholas Martin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at Friedens Lutheran Church, 6001 NC 61 North, Gibsonville, N.C. Visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall.
