James Paul Jones
BURLINGTON — Mr. James Paul Jones, 98, of 4389 Rascoe Dameron Road, Burlington went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Jackson County, he was the husband of Icie Burdell Jones, who survives, and the son of George Edward Jones and JulieWilliams Jones, both deceased.
He was a carpenter and farmer and helped build the Fontana Dam. He also loved to cook for his family. James was a former member and builder of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher and musician. He is a member of Riverdale Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include four daughters, Mildred Shears (Tom) of Gibsonville, Margie Smith (Gary) of Cherry Grove, Doris Pruitt (Larry) of Altamahaw-Ossipee and Barbara Epperson (Dwight) of Burlington; 11 sons, James E. Jones of Burlington, Thomas Leonard Jones (Lillie) of Caswell County, Marvin Jones (Virginia) of Caswell County, Paul Junior Jones (Debbie) of Burlington, Phillip Jones (Bay) of Yanceyville, Michael Jones (Shirley) of Gibsonville, Norman Jones of the home, Randall Jones (Teresa) of Caswell County, Randy Jones (Robin) of Caswell County, Doyle Jones (Kim) of Caswell County and Darrell Jones (Benita) of Caswell County; 33 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; eight great-greatgrandchildren; one sister, Lona Bramblet of Stanley; one brother, Jesse Jones of McAdenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church on Antioch Baptist Church Road, Burlington on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Steve Loy and the Rev. David Morris. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
