    BURLINGTON — Mr. Frank Preston Cable, 87, of Burlington died at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 1:20 p.m.
    A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Nelline Parrish Cable and the son of Grover Cleveland Cable and Girley Danieley Cable, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during World War II. He was formerly employed at Dan River Mills. Mr. Cable was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elon where he received a life membership in the United Methodist Men and an honorary lifetime membership in the United Methodist Women. He was very involved in the church during his lifetime.
    Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Cable Sartin and fiancé Thomas Montgomery of Elon; a son, Donnie Cable and wife Stephanie of Burlington; and three grandchildren, Sgt. Alan Cable, Leslie Cable and Brad Lawton; three stepgrandchildren, Lee Lawton, Lisa Jones and Michelle Rigoli; and eight great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Faye Cable; a son, Ronald Preston Cable; three sisters and two brothers.
    The funeral service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church of Elon on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Terry Huffines and the Rev. Kristin Lassiter. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
    The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
    Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Elon, P.O. Box 923, Elon, N.C. 27244 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
