Dorothy H. "Dot" Freshwater, 89, of 219 Judge Sharpe Road, Graham died with her family by her side at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 11:01 a.m. A native of Mecklenburg County, she was the wife of James “Bill” Freshwater, who survives and the daughter of Garland Humphries and Bessie Criscoe Humphries, both deceased. She retired from Cortina Fabrics. Dot was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church and the Philathea Sunday School Class. In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include four sons, Tim Freshwater of the home, Gary Deese and wife Alice Huffines of Swepsonville, Lee Roy Deese and Buddy Deese, both of Mebane; nine grandchildren, Kim Morrison and husband Jason, Jennifer Deese Ray, Jimmy Deese, Brian Deese, Danny, Dottie, Donna, Donald and DeAnne; and several great and great-great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all those who knew her. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Troy Deese and Dustin Andrew Deese; two sisters, Katherine Knight and Edna Talley; and one brother, Roscoe Humphries. The funeral service will be conducted at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Warren Cash. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service to lie in state. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, 4178 Mt. Hermon-Rock Creek Road, Graham, NC 27253 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
