Billie Moody Leonard
GRAHAM — Ms. Billie Moody Leonard, 74, of 1863 Edgewood Lane, Graham, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 3:50 p.m. following one month failing health.
A native of Wake County, she was the daughter of John Clemons Moody and Pauline Tate Moody, both deceased. She was a retired employee of AT&T. Mrs. Leonard was a lifetime member of Swepsonville Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and very active in the church. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She had been an avid bowler since 1973 and was a member of the "Four’s a Crowd" bowling team.
Survivors include her daughter, Ms. Jan Carter of the home; her sister, Ms. Kathy Smith (Joe Starnes) of Burlington; two brothers, Mr. Richard Moody and wife, Anita, of Hampton, Va., and Mr. Jimmy Moody and wife, Carm, of Williamsburg, Va.; a grandson, Scotty Brown of Burlington; a granddaughter, Shelby Kernodle of Burlington; former husband, Harrell Leonard and wife, Nancy, of Burlington; son-in-law, Billy Teague of Liberty; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vickie Teague.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Steve McGowan.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service, and at other times at the residence.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nurses and CNAs on Floor 1-C at Alamance Regional Medical Center and a special thanks to Sue Rogers and Jeanette Boggs for their love and care.
