Marguerite Smith Tickle
ALTAMAHAW — Marguerite “Mee-Maw” Smith Tickle, age 86, of 3043 Minor Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Hospice Home. She was the wife of the late Marvin James Tickle.
Marguerite worked at the Waffle House for many years. She was a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Marguerite was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and great-greatgrandmother.
Survivors include her daughters, Jo Ann Satterfield of Elon, Carolyn Whitaker of Elon, Glenda Madren and her husband, Jack of Burlington, Loretta Moss and her husband, Mike of Elon, Gail Fowler and her friend, Mike Warren of Altamahaw; son, Daryl “Bubba Dean” Tickle of Burlington; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildrenandthree great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, grandchild,
Cheryl Ann Satterfield,
parents, Forney Smith and Annie Wooten Smith Fitts, stepfather,
Rommie C. Fitts, brothers, Jimmy and Olen Smith.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Altamahaw Baptist Church by Dr. Steve Tucker and the burial will follow at Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of the daughter, Glenda Madren, 1023 Spring Road, Burlington, N.C. 27217. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington , N.C. 27215.
