William W. Payne
William E. Payne, 91, of 2202 W. Webb Ave. died Tuesday afternoon at 4:10 o'clock at his home following six days of critical illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late John Henry Payne and Fannie Jones Paynes. He was married to Mrs. Nancy Baker Payne, who died in 1929, and was later married to Mrs. Viola McIntyre Sutton Payne, who died Sunday. He was a retired employe of Glen Raven Mills and was a member of Faith Methodist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. F. D. Farrell of Swepsonville, and one brother, Alvis L. Payne of Rt. 2, Graham.
Final rites will be conducted at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock by the Rev. George Johnson, pastor of Faith Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. Roy Cantrell, pastor of Swepsonville Baptist Church and the Rev. Ralph Pritchard, pastor of Swepsonville Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Hawfields Presbyterian Church cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock. 467
