Burlington – Ronnie Lee Hensley, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday October 11,2022.
He was born in Alamance County to the late L.A. Hensley and Mary Belle Hall Hensley and was the husband of 53 years to the late Sandra Matkins Hensley who died in 2013.
Ronnie worked for several years with County Ford Service Department and later retired from Lucent Technologies.
He was a longtime member of Shallow Ford Christian Church where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, Custodian, Choir member and Sunday School song leader for many years. Ronnie always enjoyed heading up the annual stew at the church and he was an avid NC State fan. Ronnie was a dedicated Christian and loved his family and his church.
He is survived by his sons, John Timothy “Tim” Hensley and wife, Teresa of Burlington, Patrick Ryan Hensley and wife, Angela of Iowa and Ronald Andrew “Andy” Hensley and wife, Dawn of Yanceyville; grandchildren, Tara (Chris) Matkins, Christopher (Meredith) Hensley, Taylor (Steven) Fogleman, Tyler, Mati and Gracie Hensley; great grandchildren, Kaylie, Kenlie, Brenna, Audrey, Hunter, Zack, Landon, Emerson, Autumn and Crew; step grandchildren, Tori and Haley Adams; step great grandson, Oscar Adams; sisters, Brenda H. Borst and husband, Bill of Burlington and Cathy H. Holt and husband, Mike of Elon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Shallow Ford Christian Church a by Rev. Steve Regan and Dr. Nora Foust with the burial to follow at in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 12:45-2:45pm on Sunday and other times at the home.
The family would like to give thanks to Caring Hands Home Health of Greensboro, especially his caregivers: Andre and JC. Also Dr. Rao and Dr. Linthavong.
