Darlene Gerringer Evans
GIBSONVILLE — Darlene Gerringer Evans, 68, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 13, 2016, at her home.
A native of Guilford County she was the wife of the late A.D. “Butch” Evans Jr. and the daughter of Frank and Magdalene Waynick Gerringer, both deceased.
Darlene attended Gibsonville High School. She worked as a hairdresser for over 50 years. She also worked with her husband, Butch, at the Flea Market in Greensboro for many years making a countless number of friends. She was a member of New Life Church in Burlington and attended Concord Christian Church. Darlene was an avid Ace Speedway fan and loved to take her family with her.
She is survived by a sister, Carolyn Gerringer; three nieces, who were like her own daughters, Candace Gerringer, Michelle Smith, and Robin Clapp and husband Michael; many great-nieces; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Harold Evans; and two brothers, Roger Dale Gerringer and Gary Frank “Pee Wee” Gerringer.
A funeral service will be held in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at 2 p.m., by Pastor Bruce Church. Burial will follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service on Tuesday from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington. At other times the family will be at the residence of her sister, Carolyn, 1113 Hermitage Road, Burlington, NC 27215.

Darlene loved everyone she came in contact with, loved her church and was always willing to help others; she especially had a deep love for her family.
