Ronda Chilton Wagoner Whitesell


GIBSONVILLE– Ronda Carol Chilton Wagoner Whitesell, 68, went home to be with the lord on Saturday, June 27, 2020. She was a native of Randolph County and the daughter of the late Carl Leslie and Loucilla Brady Chilton. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, James Dan Wagoner, Jr and her former husband, Norman Lee Whitesell.

Ronda retired after over 29 years with ABSS as a math teacher at Western Alamance High School. After retirement she continued to tutor students and was a life-long teacher. She was a graduate of UNCG and a member of the ADK Math Teachers Sorority.

She was a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church in Ramseur where she was a Sunday School teacher. She actively attended Friedens Lutheran Church where she served on the Chrismon Committee and helped as a Bible School teacher each summer. Ronda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her son, Jamie Wagoner and wife, Karen of Burlington; step daughter, Erin Early and husband, Trey of Gibsonville; step sons, Scott Whitesell and partner, Tim Maness of Charlotte and Mark Whitesell of Gibsonville; grandsons, James Dan Wagoner III, Eric Wagoner and Russell Early.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bill Zima and Rev. Samuel Harris. The graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday at Maple Springs UMC Cemetery in Ramseur. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the son’s home.
