Melvin  Ray Crouse 


    BURLINGTON — Melvin  Ray Crouse , 80, formerly of Chestnut St., went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Irene Barnes Crouse  and son of the late Lester M. and Lelia Gerringer Crouse .
    Mr. Crouse  was a W.W. II Army veteran and was retired from AT&T where he was a member of the Communication Workers of America. He was a member of People’s Memorial Christian Church and a member of the Light Bearers Sunday school class. He was a Hospice Volunteer and delivered Meals on Wheels.
    He is survived by his son, Bobby Ray Crouse  and his wife Sylvia; stepson, Larry Alton Barnes; sister, Alma Mae Wright; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Linda Carol Crouse ; his parents; a sister, Ilene Baker; and brothers, Clair Crouse  and Roy Crouse .
    The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2006 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Shields. The family will receive friends from 12 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the funeral and at other times at the home of the son, Bobby, at 2515 Watt Dr., Burlington.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
