Mrs. Eleanor Hodge Gerringer 


    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Eleanor Hodge Gerringer , 93, of 1739 W. Davis St., died Thursday, December 27, 2007, at White Oak Manor.
    A native of Rowan County, she was the wife of the late Ira Boyd Gerringer  and the daughter of the late Joseph and Hester Hodge . She attended Shallowford School and was a retired hosiery mill worker. She was a member of Shallowford Christian Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday school class. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, greatgreat-grandmother, and sister.
    Survivors include a son, Eddie Gerringer  of Burlington; grandchildren, Deanna Hughes and husband, Jimmy, Donna Greeson, Debbie Little and husband, Roger, Dean Gerringer  and wife, Donna, Lauren Gerringer  and Jenna Gerringer ; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Carlene Hodge , Eva G. Wyrick, Ruth G. Thompson and Lorraine G. Matkins.
    She was preceded in death by a son, Ira Dean Gerringer ; and sisters and brothers, Ovaline Kugler, Mable Greene, Ruth Frazier, Mozelle Feltman, Paul Hodge , Eugene Hodge  and Charlie Hodge .
    The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2007, at Shallowford Christian Church by Layman Jim Owen. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday at the church prior to the service.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, c/o Shallowford Christian Church, 1263 Shallowford Church Road, Elon, N.C. 27244.
