Jimmy Floyd “Snuffy” Smith

CASWELL COUNTY - Jimmy Floyd “Snuffy” Smith, 71, of the Cherry Grove Community of Caswell County passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. A native of Caswell County, he was a son of the late Harvey E. and Bessie Gwynn Smith and had lived most of his life in Caswell County. An electro-mechanical technician in the printing industry Jimmy was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, a former member of Cherry Grove Vol. Fire Department, a former member of the Cherry Grove Ruritan Club, and a former charter member of the Cherry Grove Bassmasters. Jimmy was an avid fisherman and an exceptional golfer having won club championships at several local golf courses Indian Valley, Deep Springs, and Caswell Pines. He also helped coach the Elon University golf team and in his younger days enjoyed playing softball. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Jane Wooding Smith of the home, daughters: Kristi Smith Flynt and husband Jeremy of Jamestown, and Jennifer Smith Wilkins and husband Michael of Yanceyville, a brother: Gary Smith and wife Margie of Caswell County, and sisters: Betty Faye Cheek and husband Larry and Diane Daye and husband Barry both of Caswell County, grandchildren: Helen Rowlands and Hannah Wilkins and many loving nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to Cherry Grove Vol. Fire Department C/O Steve Jones 7074 Cherry Grove Rd. Reidsville, NC 27320. Citty Funeral Home is assisting the Smith family. Jimmy Floyd “Snuffy” Smith, 71, of the Cherry Grove Community of Caswell County passed away Sunday February 14, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
