JOHN W. MESSLER

John William Messler, son of Jacob and Sarah Messler, departed this life at the Baker Nursing home in Chariton, Iowa, Feb. 10, 1945, at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 22 days. He had been a resident of this vicinity for many years.

John William Messler was born on a farm in Marion county, Iowa, on June 19, 1871. On Nov. 27, 1897, he was married to Sarah Jane May. To them two sons were born, Dale, of Jay, Iowa and Glen, of Chariton.

Mr. Messler was a kind father and a splendid neighbor and his demise will be mourned by all who knew him. The sympathy of the community will go out to the grief stricken family.

His wife preceded him in death eight years ago. This leaves to mourn their loss, two sons, Dale and Glen; four sisters, Mrs. Louisa Nussbaum, Mrs. Jennie Badger and Mrs. Elizabeth Preston, all of Chariton, and Mrs. Estella Rouse, of Lucas; also two grandchildren, Myrna Messler and Charles Laverne Messler.

These all cherish his memory with imperishable love and mourn their loss with a sorrow beyond expression.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. W. H. Meredith, of the Methodist church, were held at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Miley funeral home, and burial was in the Spring Hill cemetery.
